"The best innovations are born from curiosity, shaped by collaboration, and measured by the lives they touch."
Heena Sharma brings 15 years of intellectual property expertise to huMannity Medtec, where she has spent the last 4.5 years doing something rare: practicing a profession she loves in an industry she has been passionate about since childhood. Her path into IP was shaped by a defining quality: an insatiably curious mind. "It's like a gym for your mind," she says. "You get to learn about new ideas, new technology, and then help protect them." Authorized to practice before the USPTO, Heena works directly with huMannity's inventors, scientists, and engineers — protecting the innovations that become the medical devices reaching patients who need them most. That sense of purpose has roots going back much further. As a child in India, Heena dreamed of becoming a doctor — a dream shaped by witnessing, firsthand, how financial hardship could stand between a person and lifesaving care. Engineering became her path instead, but medicine never left her heart. She believes deeply in collaboration over competition, and in the idea that the truest measure of a career is the impact it leaves on others. At huMannity, she's found a place where that belief is shared.

"Progress is always faster when you're not trying to do it alone."
Fumito Azama grew up in Los Angeles and studied electrical engineering at Cal State Northridge before joining the huMannity team in 2024. The transition to huMannity's growing organization — with dedicated HR, quality, and engineering departments — was a meaningful one. More support, more resources, and critically, more likeminded people to think alongside. Fumito has embraced that environment fully. He's the kind of engineer who shows up ready to work, takes on whatever is in front of him, and believes the best results come from staying open and staying connected to the people around him. That collaborative instinct fits naturally at huMannity, where hallway conversations are just as likely to move a project forward as a formal meeting, and where no one is expected to solve problems alone. "They challenged me to look at different perspectives: why we're doing this, how we're going to do it, and what the end goal is." Looking ahead, Fumito is energized by the technical frontier of MedTech: low-power sensing, precise stimulation control, and the kind of complex, cross-disciplinary challenges that huMannity is uniquely built to tackle.
